Job Summary:

We are seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Payroll Specialist to join our team. The Payroll Specialist will be responsible for ensuring accurate and timely processing of payroll, maintaining employee records, and ensuring compliance with all applicable laws and regulations. This role requires strong analytical skills, a high level of confidentiality, and excellent communication abilities.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Process bi-weekly, semi-monthly, or monthly payroll for employees in compliance with federal, state, and local regulations.
  • Maintain accurate payroll records and employee data, including new hires, terminations, and changes in pay or benefits.
  • Ensure proper calculation of wages, overtime, deductions, bonuses, and commissions.
  • Respond to employee inquiries regarding payroll issues or concerns.
  • Coordinate with HR and Finance departments to ensure accuracy in benefits, deductions, and timekeeping.
  • Prepare and submit payroll tax filings and reports, including W-2s, 941s, and state/local returns.
  • Reconcile payroll accounts and assist in month-end and year-end close processes.
  • Stay current on changes in tax laws, labor laws, and industry best practices.

Requirements:

  • Proven experience as a Payroll Specialist, Payroll Clerk, or similar role.
  • Knowledge of payroll regulations, labor laws, and tax reporting requirements.
  • Experience with payroll software (e.g., ADP, Paychex, Workday, QuickBooks Payroll, etc.).
  • Strong Excel and data entry skills.
  • High level of accuracy, attention to detail, and organizational ability.
  • Ability to handle sensitive and confidential information.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

Education & Experience:

  • Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Human Resources, or related field preferred.
  • 3-5 years of payroll processing experience.
  • CPP (Certified Payroll Professional) certification or Union Payroll experience is a plus
